On a busy highway location, our task was to design a restaurant that stood out on the island, reflecting the brand as a casual, fun Mexican eatery. We opted for a theme inspired by 80s Mexico City and Tulum, incorporating industrial elements related to Corn production, tying into the name ‘La Milpa’.
We tested different color schemes and tones to achieve the perfect blend, incorporating elements from the 80s through art, materials, and objects. One standout aspect is the ceiling, designed to function like a standard 2ft grid ceiling for lighting and mechanical needs while also serving as a flexible and distinctive feature.
